The interesting thing about the yonko is that kaido and shanks both utilize combination haki types. Shanks uses conqueror and observation haki as one and kaido used conqueror and armament as one. Truthfully theres only one form of haki split into 3 understandings. The reason Roger wasnt the one is because the goal is not only "one piece" but one haki too. I wonder if you need the body from the nika fruit to be able to use true haki (all three forms as one: here higher enlightment from roger or luffy) roger didnt have the fruit and thats why he wasnt the one. This is probably what shanks will tell luffy in Elbalf when Luffy learns conqueror + observation haki. There could be a gear 6 but the haki upgrade is more likely.
